CSCS Best of Show: Time Attack Monster

After racing a 240SX in CSCS and CTCC it was time to upgrade to a newer platform. The Performance Nissan 350Z came up for sale and it was a great platform to build on. The car has been tremendously reliable and has gotten faster and faster every year. We’re looking to have one of the fastest GT cars in Canada within the next few years. Some of my past projects include: 2007 Nissan 240SX (CTCC in 2007), Dave Briggs S14 DMCC drift car, Dave Kaskie’s Twin Turbo 350z and the G1 Racing Hyundai Genesis that competes in the CTCC series. The 350Z was originally selected to help SG-Motorsport get into the Z community. After running our own built 240SX and winning the CTCC in 2007, we wanted to try our luck at pro racing. We quickly learned the dollars being thrown around at the pro level were much higher than anything we would be able to cope with, after spending over $25,000 in only two Grand-Am KONI Challenge races.”

“And we were still small-time, arriving with an open bed trailer facing teams with stackers and motor coaches. We had a great time and learned a ton, but have since continued development to make the car a CSCS Time Attack monster. Slowly of course, and through documenting each part as we test and tune it we’ve created a large following with tech savvy enthusiasts. Making more power all the time, our stock displacement, stock head VQ35DE is currently making 338 wheel horsepower, and a large cam test will soon be in our future to find even more power. The chassis has benefitted from recent developments such as solid spherical bushings everywhere, custom subframe bushings and a custom front splitter and APR wing. Despite only having 340 horsepower, the car runs at the pace of many 550+ hp racecars and is Canada’s fastest road racing Nissan. Future plans include further weight reduction, a custom flat-bottom and diffuser, larger wing and splitter, and sequential gearbox. Once we feel there is no more to be gained naturally aspirated we will switch to a supercharger and hope to match ALMS GT2 (now called GT) times. Watch us race live at the 2011 CSCS events and follow the journey online!”
