It's been 25 years since Prodrive debuted the two-door Subaru Impreza World Rally car that inspired the iconic 22B. About 400 or so 22B vehicles were made; a very limited run. Prodrive revealed this modern version of the 22B 25 years later using the latest technology and materials. Prodrive has reimagined what a 22B would have been today.
This is debuting this at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and I think just hours ago it got seen for the very first time. It drove up the Goodwood Festival Hill.
Just 25 of the Prodrive Subaru Impreza 22B will be produced. Each with an original two-door Impreza WRX chassis at its core. Extensive carbon fiber means it weighs less than 1200 kilograms and the new 2.5 liter boxer engine will make more than 400 horsepower, and is combined with a 6-speed semi-automatic gearbox. It will also include WRC drive launch control, turbo anti-leg and all-in it does 0 to 60 in under 3.5 seconds.
I'm loving this new trend of what's old is new again and factory-spec restomod builds like this. 10 out of 10; I'm definitely going to follow up and see how this did at Goodwood next week.
As seen on PASMAG's Tuning 365 (Season 3 Episode 6) on REV TV.
