DMCC Round 8 was hosted at Sanair in Saint-Pie, Quebec on September 14-15, 2013.
The 8th and final round of the 2013 DMCC season was held over the weekend at the Sanair race track that is just south of Montreal. With the Pro AM season wrapped up after rd7 the top Pro Am drivers of the season were invited to RD8 to compete with the pro drivers.
What made it even more interesting is that even tho there were more drivers then usual the event was a Top 16 competition which meant the drivers would really have to push in order to make it in the show.
The practice/qualification day started off wet and cold. Practice was going good but the cold track temps did catch a few people and sent them into the wall. There were a number of crashes but the two most notable was Philippe Bruyer in his soarer and Pat Cyr in his FRS both having their cars finish the day packed back up in the trailer.
For an other round in a row Alex Michaud qualified in 1st place. Francis Tasse qualified 2nd and Marc Landreville in 3rd.
The next day it was much nicer out and with now only 16 drivers they had a ton of practice time. All that practice took its toll on a few drivers. Joe Thiffault's turbo let go and the engine in Marc Landrevilles S14 blew up in spectacular fashion.
Final 4 came down to Francis Tasse who by making it to the final 4 locked down the 2013 championship win. Pro Am driver Jonathan Guitard who qualified 16th. 2013 Pro Am champion Martin Langlois and Kevin Morin. Guitard won his tandem against Kevin Morin. Kevin was set to face Martin for the 3rd podium spot but in a odd outcome he actually ran out of fuel and had to forfeit. The final 2 came down to Francis and Jonathan who are both part of the same team and both really good friends. They were having a lot of fun with this and you could tell . The first battle was fairly close and the judges called a OMT battle. The drivers actually took each others cars back to the pits, it made the crowd go crazy. After this battle the judges were able to pick a winner. For his first win ever in DMCC and against his good buddy Jonathan Guitard took the win!
Final standings came down to Jonathan Guitard, Francis Tasse, Martin Langlois and Kevin Morin. By making it to the final 4, Francis Tasse locked down his first DMCC championship win. Max Lemoine came in a close 2nd and also won the rookie of the year title. Coming in 3rd was Jeff Laflamme who just edged out Bob Patinka for the podium step.
We had one crazy season this year with a lot of changes and action and even tho the last round just finished I am already exited to see what the new season has in store.
