Trust The Process: Peter Cervantes’ 1990 Nissan Skyline GT-R

Peter Cervantes cut his teeth on modified cars in the racing scene of Guam from a young age. At just 13 years old, he was spectating street drags, becoming more and more attached to the world of cars. His passion for cars was also partly due to his father, who passed down his enthusiasm. Cervantes’ house also served as his dad’s shop, which is where he would hang out to learn from his old man.

While stationed in Atsugi, Japan with the Navy, another sailor he knew owned the 1990 Nissan Skyline GT-R you see here, and Cervantes bought it from him. With his long history of being around modified cars, and working on a few himself before this, it was only a matter of time before his Skyline GT-R went under the knife.

A boatload of Nismo factory exterior options and a Jun front lip are just enough to alter the shape of the car while staying true to the original design. With so many of his parts being sourced in Japan, this Skyline is clean and proper - the way the Skyline should be. Under the hood, the R32 packs a single-turbo conversion and enough bolt-on supporting mods to bump horsepower up to a healthy 542 whp.

This whole build didn’t come together overnight, however. Little by little, Cervantes embarked on his first real full build. A couple engine components here, a suspension upgrade there, all while maintaining a priority on his family life. His process was well thought out and properly executed, resulting in a well-rounded and impressive R32 GT-R that he can be proud of on the street, and at the local show.
