Jonny Guerra has been a Honda fan for as long as he’s been into modifying cars, a passion which he found thanks to his father’s decision to bring him to work on cars. DC2 Integras, EM1 Civic Si models, and more have been modified by Guerra’s hands before this. The reliability and ease of modification of Honda’s sport compacts had always been appealing to him, and when the newest generation of Civic Type R was set to land in the United States, he knew right away he had to have it.
Guerra says that his original intentions for the 2017 Civic Type R were, and continue to be more show-oriented, but the car’s natural prowess on the track has also been really enjoyable for him - part of what makes the Type R so appealing to him is that it covers the best of both worlds. “My favorite aspect of my build is the uniqueness I can bring to the table,” Guerra writes. The overall simplicity of the platform, as well as his carefully selected modifications go the distance in setting the car apart as a show-worthy build without going too over-the-top for his liking.
By partnering with brands that he knows and trusts, all of which provide quality parts and service for the platform, Guerra has been able to transform the already potent Type R into a true all-rounder which punches above its weight class in both shows and at the track. You can catch Guerra cruising to and from shows in the central California area, or in the garage working on his next Honda project. Stay tuned for more on that one!
