While Josh Stubstad was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, he stumbled upon a car auction in August of 2014. It was at that auction he saw his dream car, the 1993 Toyota Supra you see here. Knowing he would be able to import the car to the states once he made it home, he pulled the trigger. During his time in Japan, he fell in love with JDM car culture, and took it upon himself to learn as much as he could about the Supra platform and Japanese styling.
Once he had fallen in love with clean styling, he knew what he had to do. Over the six years of ownership, he modified and restored the car in every way he could, doing most of the work himself in his North Las Vegas garage - with the exceptions of his paint job and engine work. Built to be a true all-arounder and well put together car, he left no part untouched.
Exterior styling remains simple yet aggressive thanks to a Rando Sports front bumper, Varis Ridox side skirts, a Seibon carbon fiber hood, and a Garage BB GT wing. Many style choices were shaped by his love for cool Japanese parts like his Ganador mirrors, Shine Auto diffuser, and internal parts like his TRD steering wheel and gauge cluster.
Of course, it’s still a 2JZ Supra, so you’ll find plenty of aftermarket goods under the hood, as expected. Thanks to a Garrett GT4094R turbo and supporting mods, Stubstad’s Supra makes a healthy 700 horsepower at the wheels, with plans for more in the future with an E85 tune. Stubstad tells us his overall goal is around 1,200 whp, and we can’t wait to see him achieve that goal! With a fine eye for quality parts and attention to detail, we know this car only gets better from here.
