Passion: Marylene Maheux’s 2007 Ford Mustang

Photography by Jonathan Gauthier

Marylene Maheux and her husband are both fans of Ford’s iconic Mustang. When an opportunity came up for Maheux to pick up this 2007 Mustang in Grabber Orange, one of only 510 made in North America, she didn’t hesitate for a second. The car’s promised balance of longevity and sexy curb appeal had sold her the moment she found out.

Growing up, Maheux spent many of her teen years in a wheelchair because of a hip surgery, and she says the only thing that kept her going through the hard times was working with her dad on cars and enjoying the car scene. Later down the line, she met her husband who was a mechanic and machinist, and they combined their passion to start building cars together.

When Maheux brought home the Mustang, the original intention was to keep things mild, but it was only a matter of time before the influence of car shows and modified Mustangs took hold. “We cannot have a normal car,” she jokes. With four children it’s not always easy to find the time and money to modify a car, but they made it work.

Maheux says she wanted the look and feel of a racecar for the street, so a widebody kit and some American Racing wheels were in order. Their friend Martin helped out with the body work to get the fit and finish just right, and now the body kit is Maheux’s favorite modification!
