Common Bond: Meeks Campos’ 1993 Honda Prelude

Sometimes an enthusiast’s inner passion is brought to life as a late bloomer, and that seems to be the case with Meeks Campos. Before he was into the car scene at all, he was working at his day job when he saw the 1993 Honda Prelude in its stock form. After seeing the car so many times, he decided he would take a shot and ask the owner if he would consider selling it. It just so happened that the owner was indeed ready to sell, and the Prelude became his shortly after.

His original intentions were to keep the car stock as his daily driver, but that’s a tale as old as cars themselves, and it didn’t take long for Campos to start changing it up. After a year of daily driving it, he noticed the engine was starting to get tired, so he sourced a JDM H22a as its replacement.

Since he had already committed to the swap process, he decided that it was a good opportunity to shave the engine bay and finish it off with a clean wire tuck once everything was assembled again.

The inspiration for his clean and chrome-decorated engine bay comes from Campos’ father, who he says puts loads of passion into his own builds, especially the engine bays. Today, the engine bay is Campos’ favorite part of the build, and he claims that the engine bay is really the face of the whole car.

Working with his father gave the father-son duo a common bond which brought them closer together. Everything on the car was done by Campos himself, even though he started with no knowledge about car repair or modification. “Building something on your own just shows you how to appreciate your build and other builders that much more,” says Campos. We can’t help but agree.
