Royal Purple Synthetic Motor Oil announced today that in addition to its sponsorship as the Official Motor Oil of the premier Formula DRIFT PRO category, it will also offer a contingency sponsorship for the Formula Drift PRO2 category.
As part of the $6000 program, Royal Purple will award prize money of $500, $300 and $200, respectively to the first three PRO2 drivers at each event, provided they are participating in the contingency program. This will be available regardless of whether they reach the podium as long as their competition cars display the new Royal Purple / Formula DRIFT decal. The top 2020 Royal Purple contingency driver will also receive an additional $2000 at the end of the season.
“We think it’s important to support up-and-coming drift drivers who may be future stars of the sport,” said JP Hyden, Event and Sponsorship Manager at Royal Purple. “Many of these drivers are doing everything they can to participate in these national events, demonstrating their hard work and dedication on the track, which is why we decided to create the Royal Purple Contingency Program to reward them.”
“We’re delighted that Royal Purple is getting behind the very competitive PRO2 Championship,” said Jim Liaw, President of Formula DRIFT. “Its high-performance synthetic oil is ideal for the extremely powerful engines in the series and we look forward to crowning a winner at the end of the season.”
