Import Face-Off 2010: Columbus, OH

NOS Energy Drink’s IMPORT FACE-OFF: August 29th, 2010 at National Trail Raceway near Columbus, Ohio was the 5th annual event and had the largest overall turnout of all previous years.  Due to the overwhelming support, there will now be two IFO events scheduled at National Trail Raceway in 2011.

The FWD class was won by regional points leader, Jon Moore in his 98' Dodge Neon running a 10.517 @ 147.05 mph against Rob Pachner in his ‘83 Shelby running a 10.565 @ 138.63 mph. Jon managed to break the wastegate off his manifold in the 2nd qualifier. He put the car on the trailer and took it back to shop, welded it on and somehow made it back in time to make 1st round of eliminations!  Jon’s hard work paid off as he is now the North East IFO regional points champion which earns him free race entry to all future IFO events for life!

Jamie Carter in his 98' Supra pulled the easy win in the Forced Induction Pro class running a 7.99 @ 184.4 mph to Ben Stones 97' Eclipse GSX that ran a much slower, yet respectable 10.489 @ 151.74.  Jamie’s 1600 whp Supra had such a big lead over all the FIP cars that IFO officials put a $100 bounty on his head that day.  Since Jamie won, the bounty has now gone up to $200 at the next IFO event he competes at.

The Forced Induction Sport class for daily driven street cars was won for a second year in a row by Kyle Schuchter in his '02 WRX that ran an 11.359 @ 130.68 mph against John Schroeck in his '04 WRX that ran a 12.283 @ 99.77.

Team EST earned a surprising win for Best Club Representation against top competing club, Caught Ya Lookin’ who has won that award at the Ohio IFO all previous years.  Caught Ya Lookin’ was the regional car club points leader going into this event but was unable to secure the North East points championship due to Team EST’s win.  However, Best of Show, for a second year in a row was won by Caught Ya Lookin’ club member, Aaron Chandler with his yellow Chevy Beretta. www.importfaceoff.net
