Unlike many enthusiasts, Annika Carter didn’t grow up around cars and shops. When she started, she didn’t really know much about cars in general. She did, however, know that she didn’t want her first car to be boring. After searching the market for the perfect fit, she ended up choosing the 2014 Ford Mustang you see here, elated to discover it had sequential signal tail lights as a starting point.
With intentions to modify the car to stand out from other cars on the road, Carter began learning from YouTube. As she started to attend local car meets, she fell deeper into the scene, and decided it was time to bolster the Mustang’s performance, and changed out her lowering springs for some true coilover suspension. Not long after that, she was at the track having the time of her life.
With a taste for the track, she began to walk the line between style and performance, slowly leaning more and more towards racecar inspired modifications to perform better. The whole Steeda catalogue worth of suspension can be found underneath the car, and the drivetrain has been bolstered with an Axle Exchange driveshaft, MT-82 transmission swap, SPEC clutch and flywheel, and a differential from Ford Racing to make sure all 280 who is being used.
Different wheel and tire packages for wet or dry conditions are accounted for now, and the brakes of the Mustang have been completely overhauled thanks to a combination of Wilwood, StopTech, and G-Loc parts, as well as some OEM+ upgrades like the GT500 rear caliper brackets. With a Top Garage Fabrication roll cage installed, Carter’s Mustang is another story of a car that went “full racecar” in no time. We love it!
